Evaluate Problems with Audio Clarity, Coverage and Harmful Interference
Clear radio communications can make the difference between life and death. Using Eventide’s Mobile NexLog EXP-M recorder at the incident site helps to document what was heard by the radio users (which may be different from audio quality that was collected by a centralized recorder). On-site incident recording can be an invaluable tool in later demonstrating and resolving important technical and procedural issues.
Capture Communications that Are Out of Range of the PSAP Recorder
A local recording system (at or near an incident) can be used to capture radio traffic activity that a centralized PSAP recorder may not hear or is unable to record. For example, simplex 5-watt portable VHF analog radios that are being used at an incident may be geographically out of range of the centralized PSAP recorder.
Identify Communication Problems
Reviewing and replaying of an incident’s communications can help to identify problems such as geographic coverage gaps, audio clarity issues, intermittent drop-outs, interference, noise and more.
